Dissonant piano + lyrics + vocals by me. Everything else by @elesimo. Just love collaborating with that guy. I managed to squeeze in the #runechallenge too, which I started so I kinda needed to actually complete. I used these three runes to inform the lyrics (mostly in an oblique manner): Signals, Strength, Need
This one is about combating the anxious feeling that everything is hopelessly fucked.
@elesimo:
For this collaboration, @cnidaria sent me these two beautiful piano ideas, delicate, melancholic and eerie. I wrote the guitar lines around them, and the rest just came naturally. I'm really proud of being part of this song, and her vocals and lyrics are just amazing.
lyrics
The heaviness is all I need
The heaviness is everything
The heaviness is all I feel
The heaviness is getting real
Bore into your skull
Another year and a toll
So pay up for the untold life
The path runs right
The steepest price
Climbing up up, the air gets thin
And only then you see that everyone is taking turns
Instead you’ll learn
Can’t return to that stateless grace
A shattered place set
Laid out
Laid to rest
Lay, reset
Dress your best for the play set
The heaviness is all I need
The heaviness is everything
The heaviness is all I feel
The heaviness is getting real
Stand tall, darling girl
Curtsy then twirl
For dearest dance is the only chance you have
Redemption pent up in a hapless world
Shapeless, swirling, faceless
Rise and face the makeshift space
It’s almost time
Erase and ease and chase
Only then worth stopping at the station
Stasis, patience
Lions, waiting, stay in place
Sharply pacing
Their movement is the moment that finally shapes us
Stand by my side and I might never, never give up this fight
Stand by my side and I might never, never give up on this life
The heaviness is in the wires
The heaviness is getting tired
The heaviness, it’s not my own
The heaviness is what they grown
The heaviness is floating by
The heaviness can mind its own damn time
The heaviness, it is not mine
Oh, heaviness, I close my eyes and I say goodnight
