from FAWM 2022 by The Fishermen & the Priestess

backstage exclusive

This is my take on the fake genre (fawm.org/forums/topic/12186/) "tetragloth":

"Acapella songs recorded exclusively on a 4-track recorders, but each track is in a different language."

I recorded this on my Tascam 424 4-track recorder. It was inspired by a native American tradition of presenting your ancestors before speaking.

On the first track I introduce myself, my parents, my grandparents, and my great-grandparents, in my native language Portuguese.

On the second track I speak French, "this is me". I learned French in school, and I lived with a French family for 1 year during grad school. I wish I spoke it better.

The third track is in Spanish, my neighbor language, I saw "Nice to meet you, how are you? My name is Beto. How about you?" I learned Spanish in Argentina, a country that I visited multiple times. I love the culture, the people, and the language.

The fourth track is in English, a language I learned when I was 6, and the language of the country I adopted, the USA.
